This gene encodes a member of the arginine/serine-rich family of splicing factors. The encoded protein functions in mRNA processing. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009] Function: May play a role in mRNA splicing. Subunit: Interacts with MYOD1 (By similarity). Component of the SLC (SFMBT1-LSD1-CoREST) corepressor complex, which also contains KDM1A/LSD1 and RCOR1/CoREST. Interacts with KDM1A/LSD1 and RCOR1/CoREST. Subcellular Location: Nucleus. Tissue Specificity: Detected in adult testis, and in fetal brain and kidney. Similarity: Contains 1 G-patch domain. Contains 2 SURP motif repeats.
